What Does The ‘Beyond‘ Mean?

It’s almost as if the question just flows off the tongue!
What’s your company name? Roofing and Beyond? What does the ‘Beyond’ mean?!?
Believe it or not, the answer has changed a few times since I started this business back in 2012.
The main reason the word ‘Beyond’ is part of the business name is because we do more than just roofing.
Although roofing services will always be our bread and butter, I knew the company had to diversify. Since most customers appreciate having more of a ‘one stop shop,’ our service offerings have grown from the beginning when we primarily focused on full roof replacements and minor roof repairs.
Skylight replacement was the first service added to our menu.
The percentage of homes built with skylights in the 1990’s increased significantly – mainly because they are a cost effective way to let in natural light. Now with these 90’s homes aging, and skylights lasting roughly 15-20 years on average, demand for service naturally increased.
By becoming a Velux Certified Skylight Installer we were trained on the entire removal and installation process.
Blown-in attic insulation was always something we did on the side, but I didn’t talk about it as often as I should have. Attic inspections are a pretty common practice during our full roof inspections, so measuring the existing level of insulation is quick and painless.
With energy costs on the rise and local building codes changing, demand also increased, and we listened…
The number of rotten wood chimneys I see on a weekly basis is growing exponentially. Michigan’s weather takes a toll on untreated wood and the protection of painting typically only holds up for a few years.
On top of rotten wood being an issue, the majority of homes built pre-2000 do not have a ‘Housewrap’ installed – which is the last line of defense from water infiltration. Although we do not specialize in full siding replacements, a large percentage of wood chimneys could potentially lead to a roof leak – and we can’t let that happen!
Similar to a roof, gutters don’t last forever. It just made sense to offer new gutters and gutter guards as a compliment to our full roof replacements.
